This is a luscious big Spanish red that is a remarkable wine at a remarkable price. I found it for $19 at my Costco, and was thrilled to see a Ribera Del Duero from 2004. I couldn't wait to open this one.
This wine exceeded my expectations on almost every level. I took a quick whiff upon pulling the cork and immediately liked what I smelled - earthy, tobacco, spice. The wine showed a little bit of its age along the edges in the glass, and really started to open up after the first hour. Nice cherry flavors, pretty full in body, but the tannins have matured nicely offering an air of elegance throughout; a perfect touch of oak. Finish is long and lasting. An excellent Tempranillo from start to finish.
There is nothing wrong with this wine. I can't believe it can be found for under $20. This one will land on our Gold Rated wine list (our highest rating), and should without a question be purchased if you see it at your Costco. I'm certainly going to keep a few of these on hand.
